Living History
I just wanted to document this for posterity:
No tears in my eyes, but I’m feeling a chest-bursting sense of pride coupled with a knuckle-whitening fear for this man’s life and the life of his family. My mom’s been looking for a way to get me to start going to church — this historical moment might’ve been just the thing to push me toward that direction.
The real dream ticket
“You are campaigning as if Barack Obama were the Democrat, and you were the Republican”
Several people whom I love and respect are Hillary Clinton supporters. I would ask these people whom I love and respect to defend Senator Clinton’s tepid response to Geraldine Ferraro’s now infamous comments about Senator Obama’s worthiness. I would ask these people to explain the Clinton campaign’s assertion that Senator Obama would be an excellent choice for vice-president and the labyrinthine logic that led them to this conclusion — especially in light of their candidate’s current position in the race to gather delegates.
I would ask them, but Keith Olbermann has asked these questions far better and more eloquently than I ever could.
(The following video is almost 10 minutes long, but it’s worth every solid gold minute)
In politics, alternate realities are the norm
Chris Rock’s 2008 Election Analysis
I haven’t been able to watch the news/read news sites all day after last night’s turn of events. Watching this video lifted my spirits just a bit.
Like the pot calling the kettle a rusty-butt bastard
Canada *hearts* Obama

Video: Interviewer Picks The Wrong Obama Supporter to Try To Railroad
I’m far from the most politically informed voter on the planet, but I recognize intelligence and insight when I see it. Check out this video of Obama supporter Derrick Ashong:
There are many things to love about this video; Derrick’s impassioned and informed defense of Obama’s platform, his nuanced understanding of the challenges that Americans would face while trying to implement a universal healthcare plan, are but two examples. But the thing I love most about this video is that it captures a face that is largely invisible in the media: that of a highly educated young black man who is engaged with and excited by the political process.
I have a lump in my throat just thinking about the impact this video could have.

The best thing about Romney’s departure
The best thing about Mitt Romney’s decision to drop out of the presidential race is that I have free reign to make all kinds of bad puns involving kittens and lost mittens for at least, oh, a whole day.
